On The Verge…

“If you are planning that once a year camping trip, you might want to reconsider! You will have nothing but rain.” These were the words of the weather man who changed my weekend plans. Upset at first, considering my Dad and I had been planning this trip for over 3 months, we decided to take a day adventure and attempt to climb higher than the clouds that ruined our plans. Trail Ridge road was our new destination and a day playing in Rocky Mountain National Park. Trail Ridge Road is the highest elevation continuous highway in the US. As we entered the park a ranger told us, ‘Visibility is at zero, it is wet and slippery, and large constructions trucks are in your way… but have fun!’ Bummed again, our back up plan was soon to be anticlimactic.

I was wrong. Although the Ranger was right and we couldn’t see any of the amazing views, a different dream came true! Because of the weather conditions, wildlife was thriving! My dad has lived in Colorado more that 25 years now, and he had never seen a moose. He has even dedicated days in his past to set out and search for this marvelous creature. After 25 long years, he spotted not one moose, but 5!

On the drive home through the clouds and the rain, I realized I was thankful for the bad weather. One little obstacle turned into a 25 year old dream coming true. Let’s say we were both happy campers! Thanks for reading.Colorado natureNature PhotographyColorado natureRollins HillsRocky Mountain National Park_dsc3688.JPG

Appreciating the small things

It felt like Christmas morning! I was sitting up waiting anxiously by my window with hopes of spotting a certain someone… the UPS man. There he stood, tall and proud with his all brown uniform and that tiny box. I rushed to the door before he had a chance to knock, and signed that hard to use little box. There it was, my new camera lens. I threw everything else aside and devoted all my attention to my camera bags new family member. I spent the rest of the day playing with the latest addition.

This 50mm lens works wonders with focus and depth of field. This is the lens I wanted to capture details, the unnoticed and the unseen. I wanted to bring attention to that that had none. This lens has forced me to look more closely. I must slow down and open my eyes to the things around me. This lens has made me search for things I would have never otherwise noticed. This has been such a great reminder for me. It brings so much joy to celebrate the small things and discover the unnoticed.

So here is to details and surprises! Here is to the joy from discovering the unknown. And to bringing attention to that that has none!

Have a great week! Happy Monday

Kimberly & Jordan… Married!

“Do you realize they are always like this?” The maid of honor whispered to me during the first dance. “Like what?” I replied. “Every where they go they are always looking into each others eyes or holding hands, they are so in love!” She was right! Kimberly and Jordan have glowed with love for each other every time I have met with them. They care deeply for one another and others. Happily ever after doesn’t even begin to describe what these two have coming for them. The ceremony was held at a local church in Fort Collins, and the beautiful reception was at the Hilton.
Kimberly and Jordan, it was an honor!

Estes Park Intimate set!

High school sweet hearts, and married at last! Tasha and Travis grew up in the mountains of Woodland Park, Colorado. They met in high school and soon found out they couldn’t get enough of one another. They both went on to study at Colorado University in Boulder, and before she knew it Travis was down on one knee along the pathway of their favorite hike. Their beautiful wedding echoed their past and their love for the outdoors. I had the pleasure of hiking around Estes Park with the couple and their Keen shoes. Tasha and Travis radiate with love and kindness towards one another, and I was so blessed to be caught in the midst of it.

Hanni & Ryan…ENGAGED!

What a joy it was to be able to spend time with these two on one of the first beautiful days of Summer break! When I first met Hanni in Pottery class, she hinted that her boyfriend mightbe “popping the question” very soon. Well, needless to say…Valentine’s Day brought more than just chocolate for Hanni in the form of a beautiful diamond ring and a proposal from her boyfriend, Ryan. I had the honor to spend some time with this couple and experience their fun, energetic, and loving personalities (and with the help of my camera…was able to capture some of those moments!) Thank you Hanni and Ryan for letting me be a small part of your lives and I wish you both the very best and look forward to seeing you transform from an engaged couple to a married one.

Haley & Andrew’s Engagement

What a fun Friday it was taking photographs of these two. I am not sure if I have ever laughed as much while shooting as I did with Haley and Andrew. I felt like a spy through my lens watching the joy and laughter of two friends in love. I am so thankful that my job is to capture the emotion that reveals itself in relationships. Haley and Andrew, I can’t wait to witness your wedding in only 2 short months!_dsc8004.JPG_dsc8500.JPG_dsc8666.JPG_dsc8627.JPG_dsc8350.JPG_dsc7596.JPG_dsc8081.JPG_dsc7688.JPG

spring…

Today just feels like Spring! Birds are singing… air is crisp, but there’s a warmth creeping in that wasn’t there before. Nothing makes me think of Spring like tulips. This flower seems to be a herald of warmer days to me, so in honor of this spring-like day enjoy a red tulip photo!Tulips

Wing Woman

After today’s random rain storm, the cloudy skies offered the perfect lighting for portraits. I went straight to my old house and enjoyed taking photo’s of a beautiful lady, she also happens to be my maid of honor and ‘wing woman’! I can’t stop smiling at this photograph! Thanks for looking!
